  • Most common cause of cardiac metastasis in men and women is lung cancer
  • Large vegetation, gram negative HACEK - Haemophilus parainfluenzae
  • AVR is indicated if LVESD >50 mm, LVEDD >65 mm
  • African, pericardial fluid analysis elevated protein, hsCRP, LDH, ADA, interferon gamma & low glucose - tuberculous pericarditis
  • Fever is almost always present in giant cell arteritis
  • Afib with fast ventricular rate, hypotension - cardioversion
  • s/p bioprosthetic AVR, elevated gradient without significant change over time, LVOT VTI/AV VTI >0.25 - patient-prosthesis mismatch
  • Asymptomatic severe AS, normal EF & hemodynamics - chances of becoming symptomatic, or requiring surgery in next 3 years is >50%
  • Loud P2, cyanosis and clubbing in toes but not the fingers - PDA with Eisenmenger syndrome
  • BMS restenosis factors are left main disease, small vessels, ISR, bifurcations, multiple lesions, and saphenous vein grafts, diabetes, increasing stent length & number, decrease in stent diameter
